CULTURE COURSES
Culture courses are a means of examining and exploring various aspects of life through the arts. They may address some specific genres, either alternately or simultaneously, and such themes as love, death, morals, evil, beauty and virtue.

The course affords pupils an opportunity to join in events and visit places to which they would otherwise seldom have access, such as the opening of exhibitions, meetings with artists, and life back-stage.

One of the aims of the culture course is, in addition to supplying information on how art is actually made, to provide meaningful tools for perceiving the world. Another is to stimulate discussions between pupils and teachers on art, its role and significance in society and private life.

The culture courses are produced by the City of Helsinki Cultural Office and Education Department and are tailored by the Annantalo Arts Centre in partnership with teachers, cultural and arts institutions. They are designed for secondary schools and vocational colleges in Helsinki.
